Generic Latisse (Bimatoprost ) is chemically composed of Bimatoprost. This drug is a prostaglandin pro-drug used as ophthalmic solution (eye drops) with systematic name 7-[3,5-dihydroxy-2- (3-hydroxy-5-phenyl-pent-1-enyl)- cyclopentyl]-N-ethyl-hept-5-enamide. The chemical formula is C25H37NO4 and the molecular mass is 415.566 g/mol.
Although the exact action mechanism of Bimatoprost in re-growth of eyelashes is unknown. But it is believed to increase the hair percent and duration of the growth and development phase. This drug stimulates certain receptors that help promote the re-growth of eyelashes.
