Brimonidine tartrate is an ophthalmic (eye) solution used in the treatment for open-angle glaucoma. In open-angle glaucoma, the production of aqueous humor (gelatinous, transparent fluid) is high within the eye, which increases the ocular pressure resulting in nerve damage and loss of vision, and this can ultimately lead to blindness. Brimonidine Tartrate helps in reducing the production of aqueous humor, thereby increasing the flow of this gelatinous fluid out of the eye, and this ultimately decreases the ocular pressure.
