The chemical name of Rabeprazole is (RS)-2-([4-(3-methoxypropoxy)-3-methylpyridin-2-yl]methylsulfinyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole. The empirical formula of Rabeprazole is C18H21N3O3S with molecular mass 359.444 g/mol. This ingredient is available in white to yellowish-white solid form. Rabeprazole is insoluble in n-hexane and ether. It is freely soluble in methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, water, chloroform and ethyl acetate, and it is dissolute in acid media.
Generic Aciphex (Rabeprazole) belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitor. This drug inhibits certain gastric enzymes that further helps in suppressing gastric acid production. Rabeprazole significantly negates the action of stomach acid secretion.
