The active ingredient in Generic Chantix is Varenicline (tartrate salt). Varenicline as tartrate salt is a powder form which is highly soluble in water. It is chemically denoted as 7,8,9,10-tetrahydro-6,10-methano-6H-pyrazino[2,3- h]benzazepine, (2R,3R)-2,3-dihydroxybutanedioate (1:1). The chemical formula is C13H13N3 • C4H6O6. The molecular mass is 361.35. The medicine is available in two potencies 0.5 mg and 1 mg. Each 0.5 mg tablet contains 0.85 mg of varenicline tartrate equivalent to 0.5 mg of varenicline free base; each 1 mg tablet contains 1.71 mg of Varenicline tartrate equivalent to 1 mg of Varenicline free base.
The drug Varenicline is known to negate the action of certain receptors related to neuronal nicotine acetylcholine. This drugs acts on the central nervous system to help people quit smoking.
Generic Chantix should be taken as instructed on the product packaging or as dictated by your physician.
Do not use in higher or lesser quantities or longer than recommended.
