In androgenic alopecia, the male sexual hormone – testosterone is converted into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by an enzyme five alpha-reductase. Higher the levels of DHT, greater is the hair fall. Now, after the oral administration of Generic Propecia (Finasteride), the enzyme five alpha-reductase is dramatically reduced; thereby, stopping the conversion of testosterone into DHT. Eventually, the levels of DHT are reduced, which further help prevent hair loss and encourage hair re-growth.
